Abstract:
The Bohr electronic model was based on Newtonian physics, but was "incorrect enough" to indicate that Newtonian physics was inadequate and thus obsolete. From this, quantum numbers and quantum physics arose. This essay demonstrates that had Bohr and others chosen a different model, Newtonian physics would have explained the quantum spectral phenomenon. Of course, that would have dampened the spirit of the "new math" that was forging its way into fertile minds. Newton's nag was left at the starting gate as the Solvay quarter horses charged forth and churned up the track into waves and clouds of certain(?) probability.
