Thermodynamics, reversibility, irreversibility, energy, entropy, relativity, Einstein’s masse-energy relation
During a long time, the basic equations of thermodynamics were written according to a “convention of engineers” and the same was done for the drawing of the corresponding diagrams. Although this practice is often substituted today by the use of the “convention of thermodynamicians”, it seems that a result borrowed from the initial convention has not been converted into the new writing. A possible consequence of this omission is that the link between thermodynamics and relativity - more easily detectable when the correction is done - is hidden behind this local survival of the old convention.
